Last night’s concert beat the autumn Monday blues ..

It may have been cold and wet outside but Lillian Boutte and the Gospel Choir brought a lovely, warm glow into the theatre last night. The New Orleans Ambassador for Music, and celebrated gospel singer had spent the day, supported by her oustanding jazz quartet, leading a workshop for our Gospel Choir. The choir, directed by Beth Potter and Christen Van den Berghe, performed with them last night to a delighted audience. They demonstrated the improvisation skills they had been working on, creating a free and relaxed sound and also proved themselves to be an impressive, disciplined gospel ensemble. The mix of gospel and jazz was very uplifting and everyone enjoyed being asked to sing with them Louis Armstrong’s “It’s a Wonderful World” as an finale.

Thank you to everyone for the organisation, Dr. P, Jenny, Tammy, Aaron B, Aaron M and the FOH and Tech Teams – an of course the choir.

Homework Club

The homework club is run on a rota basis by the five Learning Mentors, between 3.45 and 5pm every evening in M10U. It provides an ideal opportunity for you to work in an informal but supervised setting with individual support from a member of the LM team.
In the event of the LM being absent, you can remain in the LRC area, but must register in either case. If the library staff are also absent, you can go to reception, and the receptionist will contact a member of staff to supervise you until 5pm, although this won’t necessarily be in the LRC.
